On June 24th, PHA Clubhouse teamed up with Comprehensive Life Resources (CLR) to throw a fantastic BBQ. Our Director Steve manned the grill, serving up delicious hot dogs, corn on the cob, and hamburgers while members and staff worked together to set up the tables and get things ready for the crowd that would show up shortly. Once they arrived, we got the tent and tables set up outside so we could play some cornhole together. Clubhouse put on some music and managed to get some members up and dancing to our playlist. We had some great conversations too with both new visitors -that didn’t know it yet but were soon to become members of Clubhouse too- and with our regular attendees. A CLR staff member had set up in the kitchen to make us a pan of lumpia. People gathered in the entry way hoping to get a little bit while the hamburger patties finished cooking outside on the grill. There was plenty of food and we sure didn’t miss out on our sweeter cravings. We had a whole pan of cut watermelon and a full tray of fourth of July cupcakes decorated by Clubhouse Staff.
As we reflect over the years, we have been open, CLR has been an incredible community partner. They have been holding cooking classes on alternating Wednesdays and showing us new ways to enjoy food and share that happiness with others. CLR consistently supported our events, empowering PHA Clubhouse as an organization with their kindness, sociability, and compassion. Our collaboration goes beyond events, extending into resource sharing and meaningful conversations. Their support didn’t just make the BBQ a success; it strengthened our community as a whole.
